It would be great if an action was automatically added if you clicked on an email address to send a constituent email or clicked on a phone number (using your mobile device) to call a constituent.
Notes or details could be added later, but this would automatically create an action so that fundraisers would have an easier time remembering when they made calls, sent emails, etc.
We are testing NXT now and I too think the contents of the e-mail should be saved when sending an e-mail from Web View. It does this now in RE7 and will be of little use to us without it. Whilst it wasn't designed to do this in Web View, I think you should change the design and have options. You could have a configuration option 'Save contents of e-mail to Action' Y/N. If 'N' then it just creates a placeholder as normal, else if 'Y' it saves the content of the e-mail. This way you keep every customer happy as they are free to choose how the functionality works for them
@Liz, I can see how adding text would help. For tracking purposes we should get that added as a suggestion so we can get an accurate assessment and we don't lose track of it when this idea is closed out.
I use an Outlook Blackbaud plug-in that searches our RE NXT database for the prospect(s) I am emailing which allows me to capture my email content in Actions. I can select the type of action from various options. Such a timesaver.
It would be great to be able to add text messages.

I think that's a missed opportunity and is functionality that exists (or did at one time) in the database version of RE, which was a huge time saver. I was excited that this was shipped, but now I see it is not usable for my organization.
@Anne, this is correct. The nature of this idea is to create a placeholder action that can be updated after the call/email. We do not have any syncing that occurs with the phone/email itself. We just create the action with the date/time/type as to not be forgotten.
Just tried this in NXT, I like the concept that it creates the action, but none of the content from the email was added to the action! So we still have to copy content from the email, defeating the purpose of this feature. Or am I missing something? Looks like I will have to continue using the Blackbaud plugin in Outlook.
Would love an update on this, would be a tremendous time saver and would prompt gift officers to better use NXT and get actions in the system.

It is also important that the solicitor be tagged for the action, eliminating the time consuming effort involved in going back into the action and choosing yourself as the solicitor after you just sent the email.

I agree! It is indeed very time consuming what I would like for my phone calls is when I click on the phone number in my mobile device for an action to be created, which I could then fill in following my call. Likewise with e-mail, I would like to be able to click on the e-mail in the web view and have my e-mail message automatically feed in from my outlook.

Yes please - I got hooked on adding actions directly from sent emails in RE7 and I"m somewhat surprised the next-gen product won't do that too!
