Many times I need to add the same action for multiple constituents (not a mass mailing or similar, but a meeting with multiple people or conversation with a few people, etc.) It is time consuming to do this individually in NXT but in most instances it is not a list and doing an action upload in the database view is just as time consuming. Having the ability to add multiple constituents to a single action would save a significant amount of time, particularly when working on a mobile device following a meeting with several people when you don't have access to the database to do an upload and you want to make sure you are capturing all of the information as soon as possible and applying it to all of the necessary constituents.
It is the same logic as soft credit for gifts. We need the ability to soft credit an action to other records so that the action can be associated with multiple records while remaining a single action. When the action is updated in one place, the update should be reflected across all associated records.
This would allow users to utilize actions for proactive, open planning while maintaining visibility across multiple records. However, today there is little benefit to entering an open action into the system if it needs to be visible on multiple records. If anything changes and the current Copy feature is used, the edit or change has to be made independently on every copy, creating duplicate work and increasing the risk of inconsistent information.
The goal should be to maintain one action with visibility across all relevant records—similar to how soft credit allows one gift to be reflected on multiple records. This keeps the information connected, reduces duplicate data entry, and makes actions much more useful for planning and administration.
I haven't read all of the comments, but it would be helpful to have Actions associated with funds or campaigns. I.e., we are raising funds for a capital project and at a certain project stage we need to give a gift/report to ALL donors.
This is a crucial part of how my organization tracks event attendees for events since we use third party platforms for events.
Yes please, I use the defaults in database view all the time, which is so convenient and efficient! Can we please also have that for Opportunities - use the defaults all the time their also.
Here's hoping we can get this functionality added within 10 years of its original, formal request date! It will be tight.
I vote for this! Please add as soon as possible! Thank you!
Someone merged Idea 951, "Select more than one contact on an action," into this idea. These ideas are not the same idea. This one is one action belonging to multiple constituents. That idea is being able to put multiple contacts on the same action. Constituents does not equal contacts, these are not the same ideas, and both separate ideas are necessary and warranted.
Meeting this need is long past due. Especially as spouses more frequently get their own constituent records, the need to put one action on more than one constituent has dramatically increased over the years and this capability should be added. To be clear, this isn't a "bulk add" or global add, this is one action being linked to multiple constituents, not multiple instances of the same action setup being applied to multiple constituents.
This would be very useful for metrics as well INSTEAD of copying the action. We do not want to record that more than one meeting/phone call/email took place, as that overinflates the activities that are actually being reported. Essentially, what we are asking for is the equivalent of soft-credits on a gift. We want one action record associated with multiple constituents.
This would be super helpful! Please add SOON if possible. Thank you!
I'm reopening this since we didn't resolved the ultimate use case which is to bulk add an action to a set of constituents.
The "copy to" option is not what everyone was asking for. We don't want duplicates on one action record (for looking at solicitor credit) but we want everyone who was at a particular meeting to show up when we are looking at their consistuent record.
Need (yesterday) the ability to more easily duplicate record information, such as prospect status, into spousal record... please and thank you!!!!
This would be super helpful! Please add soon if possible. Thank you!
The ability to copy to (another individual constituent) is useless.
Agree with others who are saying the core request was not addressed with this "Copy to" feature. Can someone point me to an open idea that revisits this need?
I just wanted to say that I agree with Brain Davies' comment - this is an ok solution but it is not what the idea was actually asking for. The idea was for a one-to-many option, and what Blackbaud gave us was the ability to copy a one-to-one option multiple times. It's different.

Are we able to do this yet or not? If we can, how?
+1 on this "I noticed you cannot copy TO a business/org/foundation record FROM a person record."
Also the copy function is an ok solution, but not really the nature of this idea as I understood it. I was hoping for the ability to add and manage the same action on multiple cosntituents. For example I am meeting with two business associates about a company sponsorship. I can add both individuals as well as the company to the action and see the contact records on all of the records.
The system of copying also create problems when it come to counting solicitor interactions for annual metrics because one meeting may create two actions if the solicitor meets with a couple who both have constituent records.
