Processing recurring gifts should be automatic because donors want their cards charged on their specified date(s). Having to manually go in and process the credit card transactions is ridiculous and takes more time and energy. Previously, I used Authorize.net. Once you do the initial set-up, the system does the work for you. Changes are only made if the donor changes the gift amount or date. Additionally, if a donor's date falls on the weekend or when you are away from the office, the card won't get debited until you return. You also run the risk of a donor's account being overdrawn if it processes too early or too late. You would think that a system this robust could handle this request.
We have no released automated recurring gifts as Generally Available in RE NXT web view!
You can now add new automated recurring gifts from web view and even convert qualifying manually recurring gifts that were added in database view to automated if desired. See the documentation in RE NXT web view for more information!
I was just talking to a supprt person and he told me to post this as an idea. Not shockingly I found it was already here. Someone on staff commented below it was going to be done in 2018 but here it is March of 2019 and I'm still be told to enter this as an idea. Does anyone know when or if this will happen?
Hey everyone! I just wanted to mention that this is a roadmap item that we committed to in 2018 for RE NXT. While we aren't likely to make changes to automate recurring gifts in RE7, we do hear your feedback here and are using it to drive improvements in the newest version of RE.
I'll move this idea to the RE NXT idea bank and make sure it is updated once the functionality is released in RE NXT.
I just started a new job at a nonprofit after having used different CRMs like Neon, Tessitura and Civi. Just started using Blackbaud and their products (mainly RE, FE and OLX). Considering how big and important blackbaud is in the nonprofit world, it is absolutely ridiculous that automatic charges aren't built in. Smaller CRMs with money processing like Neon & Civi have it figured out! Totally agree...this is a hassle and wastes a lot of time for people at nonprofits who are already overworked as is. This is definitely something blackbaud should focus efforts on, because this is currently an area where they are far, far behind competitors who had this figured out 10 years ago.
We use another vendor for this specific problem. I was shocked to learn earlier this year that it wasn't even on the company's radar that this was an issue.
