Text message and Email notifications for action reminders

I had one of my gift officers ask me whether NXT will be able to send him text message or email notifications of upcoming or past due actions.  Similarly, I wonder if there could be a way to integrate calendars so that actions could be added to Outlook or Google calendars.  Integrating  a calendar program would actually solve the email/text reminders problem, because you could use those calendar's reminder features.

Anyway, I'm fairly certain that this type of feature doesn't exist yet in NXT, although I know it's there to some degree in RE Classic.  It seems like it would be useful and I'm wondering if there are any plans for development along these lines and if anyone else would find it useful.

We have implemented an add to calendar feature from Actions that hopefully helps.  I am am going to leave this idea open though as some of the comments on here hint at more depth than we had in the initial release of calendar integration

I don't want to block my calendar at a specific time for most action reminders, so I don't use that option unless it is really an upcoming meeting. I'd prefer to receive an email reminder every morning once the action becomes due/past due. It doesn't need to be fancy. Even something similar to the dashboard emails would be fine.

6 years later, still an issue. Gift officers and relationship managers still want notifications sent to their email. We are using outlook and hosted. They don't want it added to calendar right away as they need to contact these constituents to set up a specific date to meet once they get the notifications.

Still an issue 3 years later.  I would like to be able to add the action to the fundraiser's calendar, not just mine and email notifications are a must-have.  We are hosted and use Outlook 365.

To piggy back on this - I just filed an issue requesting notifications for when a fundraiser/solicitor is assigned. We have geographical regions. That way gift officers will know to follow up on new leads. How are they supposed to know unless they are staring at their dashboards that a new lead has come in? Please! This is very much required.

At least in the Google version, the Add to Calendar feature is nice but definitely needs some more work.  There needs to be more details pulled from NXT to the calendar item, like what RE record (constituent, opportunity, etc) it is connected to.  Right now the only way to get any in-depth info into the Google calendar item is to add it to the "Summary" field in RENXT.

Could you please add the calendar option to email and mail?

This would be so crucial and very helpful. Especially when you are in event season and unable to be proactive about gifts.

Like the calendar feature on Actions, however it appears you can't add an Action to another User's calendar, which would make this so much better.

Yes - it would be great to get email reminders and have it compatible with gmail systems. I'd love for the reminder to be "optional" and then for the drop down menu to give options on when I'd like to get an email reminder as well (for example, for follow up on a grant , I might need more lead time than emailing an individual)

I think reminders is a great idea. It was a great feature we utilized with Outlook before we went hosted. It has been tough since then. I know my officers would all like reminders. Not for all actions, just specific ones - the work center is already helping them work through actions more efficiently.

I'm about to head into a meeting with some folks that we're considering getting on NXT to track some data that's not specifically development-related (but is currently tracked in numerous xls spreadsheets).  They'll be using Actions, but we need to be able to set alerts.  So I hope that feature from RE:7 makes its way to NXT soon!  In the interim, I guess I'll set up some queries, and then go in and add those alerts in RE:7 myself, and check regularly.

This would be super helpful for Recurring Gifts in the EFT Module.  Big frustration and concern of mine that at some point I'll forget to run those charges and we'll lose a month's worth of donations.  Had to email them all when I was on vacation in June, as I'm currently the only one who knows how to run them, and I was not going to have internet connection on the 10th.  Luckily, no one minded being charged a week late.
