It's going to be very time consuming to copy and paste our consent statement into the consent box when adding on a new opt in / out.
The consent statement wording will always remain the same so this should be easier to enter or default.
Without an autofill function, we are unlikely to use these fields and instead would continue to record our Privacy Policy and Consent Statement wording on a separate Data Protection Log which is a lot less efficient and clear - particularly for when there are staff changes and we want to ensure consistency.
Five years later...this never happened
Hey Sally, great feedback!
So in NXT web view we do have plans to give you the ability to save Consent Statements and give them names, so that instead of retyping the Consent statement each time you enter a Consent Record, you will be able to just select the appropriate one from a drop-down. We do not have plans to add that functionality to database view (RE7), but it will be there in web view eventually (Q2 of this year).
This will not actually be tied to "source" as your specifically suggesting in this idea, but I think it will still achieve the desired outcome. Let me know in the comments below if you think otherwise!
We do not have a plan to do this for Privacy Policy, however, as we're expecting that (more often than not) to be a link to your public facing privacy statement.
I'm going to go ahead and update the title and description of this idea to indicate what it is that we have planned so as not to confuse anyone that is subscribed or may see this Idea in the future. If you want to submit another idea for the "Privacy Policy" or "tie it to Source" bits, please do feel free, but I think they would be better served as separate ideas.
It's also worth mentioning that manual entry of these records is not expected to be the norm, so more often than not we expect the tool you are collecting consent from to populate these fields for you in a smart way. That is what both Online Express and BBNC will be doing after their upcoming releases that will contain Consent Management features in them.
I hope this helps!
Thanks,
Jarod
