"Permanent Search Bar" that does not require that the 'magnifying glass' have to be clicked for each search

The new upgrade adds an extra step when searching for constituent codes (and many in a row). Please go back to the old version or add the magnifying glass as a permanent field that does not have to be clicked every time you want to search for someone. The new "upgrade" is cumbersome and not user-friendly.

If this is a quick fix, then I say make it. I keep clicking on the notifications icon by accident bc the page is slower to load than I would like.

It may not seem like a big thing, but it certainly wastes time right now when you hit "enter" and are taken to a record you do not want. And it is not like it is a huge investment in time to change. Should be a simple fix. It certainly is counter-intuitive the way it functions now.

My biggest frustration with the way this was changed is the fact that if I hit enter after typing a name it does not search for my term. I often know exactly the record I want to access and have no need to see a list of options. With all due respect to Bill Connors and Aaron Boydston, this was a change to the program that was not a positive one. It does not work like any other browser search field I use and, especially for me as a DBA that spends a majority of my time in the database view, more often than not I have to retype my search term and then there is the wait while it returns possible matches, a wait that makes NXT seem slow and archaic.

I agree with Aaron on this and have no idea why there are so many votes for this. Of all the things that BB needs to be working on with the web view, this is a high priority? Not in my book. As Aaron rightly notes, you have to click somewhere to start a search, so how does creating more clutter on the screen to have a perpetually open search bar help anything? *You'd still have to click in it to start the search.* There are no more clicks now than there would be with a perpetually open search bar. (Note: there are definitely other changes I'd like to see to Search, but a permanent search bar is definitely not what I would prioritize.)

Yes Aaron, it would be nice to have the search bar continually open instead of the additional step that is required now by having to click the magnifying glass to get the search bar to open.

I don't understand the need for this. When I click the magnifying glass icon, I can immediately start typing. Thus it's a single click which would be the same as clicking into a search field before being able to type and search.

Are you simply asking for the VISUAL element of alway seeing the search field expanded?

Also, the fact that hitting "return/enter" in this search bar disregards the search to open a previous record is immensely frustrating.

Agreed! Was just talking about this with my colleagues.

Yes! The magnifying glass has the appearance of an antiquated DOS system.

Agreed. Please fix the things that need fixing, not cosmetic changes to an already functioning system.

Ill conceived change.  Sufficient testing should have proven it was a bad idea.  Please change back ASAP.

Agreed! The new search bar is counter-intuitive. You'd think you'd click and be able to type in the same place where the mouse is.... Especially frustrating on wide monitors.
