Queries and reports in RE are alphabetized properly when a constituent name uses the backslash to identify which word to alphabetize. Currently, for example, all orgs with the word "The" starting their title are alphabetized in the Ts in NXT lists, when in reality "The\Annie Casey Foundation" should be in the As.
We may not need the backslash specifically, but there quite a few situations where users need to override the default sort key / sort name. I never particularly liked the backslash because it really interfered with searching and users just could not get it correct.
The ability to use “\” currently in DBV to correctly alphabetize Org names is an essential need in unified view. Otherwise those running donor lists from unified view will have a very manual process of correctly alphabetizing a list after exporting.
This is absolutely essential for stewardship listings. We have hundreds of organizations in our database that begin with "The" or "Estate of" If the backslash (or some other method) is not available when dbv goes away, we will have a significant increase in manual work to sort these properly in excel.
