Add "Other Amount" option AND ability to turn off auto-filled gift amount on Optimized Donation Form

We are excited about the new optimized donation forms; however, we have some concerns. Currently, there’s no option for donors to select “other amount” or to disable the auto-fill feature that suggests a predetermined gift amount based on a proprietary algorithm. We believe this could discourage potential donors, as the suggested amount may feel too high or off-putting for some. To create a more welcoming experience, we would prefer the default amount to be set at $0.00, allowing donors the flexibility to choose their contribution. Unfortunately, we will not be able to use the optimized donation forms until these options are offered.

Two reasons to change the optimized form: the precalculated amounts are often weird. We would appreciate having the chance to enter the 4 amounts showing on the form as we do with the standard form. Also, give us the chance to preselect 1 of the gift amounts as we do with the standard form. This doesn't seem like a lot to ask for. It looks silly to our donors to have something like "$675" or "$1900" show preselected. Yes they can change the amount to whatever they want, but the prefilled amounts encourage smarter options.

    Hello,

Thanks for your feedback! We have done donor testing on the design and have seen no evidence that donors aren't understanding you can enter in your own custom amount in the entry box. However,I have shared this feedback with my UX designers and they may look for some alternative designs.

Today, we're seeing increased average gift amounts through the optimized form and so we'll be closely testing this area before we make any changes or open up more configuration options for organizations.

I'll open this for voting for now, and share updates when we plan any changes in this area.

    Thanks again!

I agree! You can change the set amount that it puts in there, but it isn't obvious that you can do that. I love the idea of $0.00 :)
