When viewing a List you are unable to view the List's description. In fact the only way to view the Description is by going to Open Saved Lists and searching for it. Being able to view the description while in the List itself saves time as you don't have to exit the List, look it up, read the description, open the List, realize you forgot the description already, close the List, search saved Lists again, screenshot the description, etc.
