Add the ability to open fund, appeals and campaigns to the "search constituent" bar at the top
While not constituent records, we find that we spend a lot of time going in to the fund, event, campaign. It would be helpful if that search bar opened those records, too.
Blackbaud, any update on this? Fund search needs to be a higher priority in order to drive user adoption. It's been 4 years since the last update from Blackbaud.
We do ultimately plan to add the ability to search across multiple record types, but that's going to required some work to beef up the way the search is performed to make sure that its not extremely slow searching across various data types. So while I know it seems like a small request, its actually a very large effort (which, as I mentioned, we do plan to do eventually). We did have plans to tackle that work in late 2017/early 2018, but the work was ultimately de-prioritized in favor of other commitments. I apologize for forgetting to post that update here.
The good news is that we have plans to introduce new List types (including Lists for Campaigns, Funds, and Appeals) in the first half of 2019 to make navigating to the record itself easier and a little more intuitive than using the Gift List as a workaround. I tend to agree that that workflow is awkward at best and has some gaps.
Thanks for all the feedback though! I'll try to keep this Idea updated as we near time to release the CFA List types so that at least a little relief for this use case can be put into use by everyone here.
I'd like to add my support to this idea, particularly as it relates to looking up Fund records in NXT. Blackbaud has already released some great functionality around viewing information about Fund records in NXT (attachments, analysis of top donors, top appeals, top campaigns, donors and giving by level etc), but it is rendered nearly useless to most of my organization's end-users as they are not able to easily access it. Blackbaud's workaround is provided here, but it is not comprehensive as it indirectly accesses a Fund record via a Gift list, and therefore limits your ability to access Funds to only those Funds that are associated with a Gift record. Therefore, if a new Fund record is created and no gifts have yet been allocated to it, there is no way to view or attach any documents to it in NXT.
Like Alex, I also curious if Jarod/Blackbaud has an update to share?
I see the last note from Jarod was from early 2017, with a note that it was slated for late 2017 for deployment. It's nearing the end of 2018 - Any updates?
Thanks for the feedback! You are spot on with where we want to take the search bar. We have planned changes for Search later this year and part of that will include enabling the ability to search for other record types (not just Constituents).

Any update on this? Below it states this would be addressed in early 2019, and we are now almost midway through 2020.
Hey everyone,

Agreed!

Absolutely agree! I just posted this idea specifically for Funds.
