For all of you who had long been waiting for the Tribute functionality to be added to NXT gift processing, we have simply used the comments to collect the tribute info and enter it after approving the batch.
We have recently tried and long awaited feature and have found it to be a disaster! We are reverting back to our previously mention process until they build the functionality PROPERLY.
Two main issues with the new functionality as designed:
1. There is no visibility to review / correct the record matching for the tribute (as with the donor). We have found several duplicates for this individual within the past two days. 2. There is no visibility to the fact that a gift contains a tribute to indicate that one came in and that I should verify whether it was assign to the proper record.
This is on top of the fact that BB's response is simply to "merge duplicates: to take care of the problem. To me this is unacceptable to go live with underdeveloped code and make it the customer's problem to clean it up.
I submit to Blackbaud that you should NOT consider the release of the long-awaited functionality as a solution to the request. This needs to be amended to add the visibility to the fact that a gift is a tribute, and to provide the same ability of reviewing / modifying the tribute record assignment before committing.
Thanks for notification that this feature has shipped, very exciting.
Please provide optional functionality for mail also. This way we can require email but make hard mail optional. A lot of our donors don't have mail address for acknowledgees.

@Jen Cunningham. You may be doing this already, but what has worked for me in terms of not wanting additional records for random tributees is creating an "Unknown Tribute" record and then just adding a new tribute to that record each time the person/people being remembered is unknown with no further contact info provided, specifying the name in the description. Still lots of manual work, but can be done from OLX before unneeded records are created.
@Juliana Lawson - does the Early Adopter version have an option for the donor to submit an email address for the person who should be notified?
I wanted to let everyone know that we have started the Early Adopter Program for Tributes on the RENXT webview form. If everything goes well Tributes will be coming to you soon!
We were researching using the webview donation form instead of the Online Express donation form but this limitation will definitely prevent that for us. Please make the functionality at least the same if not better in the webview.
This is just another example of a function that should have been in effect the minute gifts are allowed to be entered in NXT. Simply rolling out functions a little at a time just infuriates me and others.
Is there an update on when this functionality will be added? This is preventing us from making the switch as well, and we were really hoping to do so at the beginning of the new year.

Can the notification be either mail or email?
Hello!
Tributes were released today! Check out this Blog Post for more information.
Our organization is also interested in joining the early adapter program if you need more people.
We would be interested in becoming early adopters too - this functionality is vital in the Hospice fundraising world!
yes, this is important. Any update on how long the "Early adopters" will be happening before it gets pushed out to all?
Juliana - if you're looking for additional Early Adopters, we would be DELIGHTED. :) So glad to see this is happening!
We definitely would like this to be done.

This is welcome news Juliana! I'd like to echo Gwen's question!
Hi Juliana, great news! How can we become Early Adopters?

Looking for an update from Blackbaud. Do we have an ETA for this basic functionality?
This is just another example of a function that should have been in effect the minute gifts are allowed to be entered in NXT. Simply rolling out functions a little at a time just infuriates me and others.
Please make this happen ASAP!
