FUNDRAISING REPORTING = beautiful reports with BAD DATA

I am struggling with reporting. I have made tons of changes to try to use the RENXT canned reports but they STILL do not properly filter data.

ACQUISITION: I went through and made sure that spouse records were ALL soft credited to one another. This should have remedied pulling in donors whose spouse has been giving for years yet they chose to give a gift separately. We do not consider them NEW donors. An example shows below that I click into the LIST associated with ACQUIRED donors it shows this for a NOT newly acquired donor based on (recognition for) first gift in 2017.

Furthermore, I applied CATEGORIES to all of our campaigns funds & appeals. I am filtering on campaign category to filter out gifts in our system that are NOT donations. We have revenue that comes from property rental and other income that comes from serving Sacraments and so on. The LIST shows donors with latest gift "Event Parking" - NOT a donation.

I tried to filter the LIST by CAMPAIGN to remove non-gifts and they all still show in the list so this also does not work.

RECAPTURE: I am filtering on campaign category and fund categories to filter out gifts in our system that are NOT donations. We have revenue that comes from property rental and other income that comes from serving Sacraments and so on. Below shows a donor record who appears as a recapture. The initial $30 gift in 2016 was a donation. The latest $1100 gift in 2018 is NOT a donation. Therefore, this is NOT a recaptured donor.

We are certainly not the only organization that has money in the system not considered a donation. We need to keep a comprehensive view of all interactions with our organization to properly steward and handle moves management. I need to be able to run a report with a board member watching- live- that is accurately telling us DONOR Aquisition/Recapture/Retention. I need to be able to run these reports filtering down to only compare donors/gifts for certain campaigns or appeals or funds. RE NXT is a huge expense that continues to promise amazing reporting abilities, yet I am still forced to try to get this data using database view reports or exporting data to properly calculate using other programs.

RE NXT reporting STILL does not give these vital reporting options:

  • credit soft credit to donor/recipient/both
  • only consider Head of Household
  • only consider certain gift type
  • choose the date timeframe/years for Aquisition/Recapture/Retention reports (+choose Fiscal Year rather than calendar year)
  • only consider the "Split gift fund" portion of the gift (such as gifts that were one check split between a payment and a donation)
  • option to exclude the highest and lowest donation when calculating average donation
