Show soft credits on giving timeline

We have payroll deduction donors whose checks come from their employer. The employer gets the hard credit and the donor gets the soft credit. Currently, the timeline for these donors shows no gifts! Same issue for couples where the check only has one name on it and the spouse receives a soft credit. If soft credits show up in the giving summary (which they do, and should) they should also be on the timeline.

I have a user familiarizing themselves with WV and asked why a current couple (with long giving history) was missing soft credits - only to discover that they were using the 'Timeline' tile, which none of the other gift officers currently use. This is still an issue - how would anyone looking at 'only' the Timeline tile know gifts are missing? I just spent too much time researching this only to discover that it was partially a training issue and partially a design issue on a tile that only a new person might see/use.

Many of our major gift donors give through associated giving entities (eg their Family Foundation) so it is important to be able to accurately view the soft credits.

While I personally don't agree with the data entry protocol of the original poster for payroll deductions, I agree with the second example for spouses and the summary statement -- the whole point of soft credits is to give additional credit and for the money to show up in the soft credit recipient's record, and the timeline should not be an exception. The point made about Giving Summary is a good one.

We hard credit based on the check so at times the individual donors are soft credited. (Smith Family Foundation is hard credited and John and Jane Smith are soft credited) In addition, our couples have separate records so the head of household is hard credited and the spouse is soft credited.

It looks like this idea was mistakenly marked as Shipped back in 2017. I'm correcting the status for now and we'll evaluate this idea as a possible addition at some point in the future.

Hi are there any updates on this? This would be a great feature to add. Thanks

We hard credit the individual for employee giving, but it would still be beneficial to have this option to show donations through family foundations, etc.

One of our most generous donors is tagged as "Lost" in RE:NXT because all of his giving comes via his foundation and the soft credits don't factor in.
