Default Set functionality for Action records

It would be great to select from the Action Default Sets (available in the Database view) in RE NXT that have prepopulated fields while in RE NXT Web view.

Also see idea #6223. This a major barrier that database users encounter in web view.

As @Jen Cornell posted previously, with importing especially, using Action Default sets is critical to maintain efficiency and accuracy within our records. These defaults create a unified view of every action with all the needed fields filled in.
This is simply not a negotiable point for many database view users. It is a necessity for clean data.

Seriously why has this not happened yet? It's the main reason I can't switch to NXT from DBV.

I’d like to highlight the critical role that Action Defaults play in the day-to-day workflows of multiple users across our team, including administrative and frontline staff.

Specifically, Action Defaults are heavily utilized in two key areas:

    1. Constituent Actions – Staff rely on preconfigured defaults to streamline data entry, ensure consistency, and reduce manual input errors when logging interactions.

    2. Global Add for Uploads – When processing bulk uploads, Action Defaults significantly increase efficiency by auto-filling standard fields, allowing users to focus on the data that varies record-to-record.

These tools are not just conveniences—they are essential for maintaining data integrity, supporting user productivity, and ensuring adherence to internal data standards.

Any changes to this functionality, including its removal or limited availability, would have a widespread impact and could introduce inefficiencies and errors into our processes. On the other hand, enhancements to this feature could further reduce user friction and increase adoption of best practices.

This is heavily used by me when adding actions in databaseview, this helps to maintain consistency and limit data entry errors. Please add this functionality to NXT. There seem to be few other ideas floating around discussing this issue, I just voted on this one since it seemed to have the most votes.

This is an important functionality to save time and resources. Please add!

Default sets reduce time, data entry errors, and help us adhere to our data standard policies. They are a necessity for us for constituents, gifts and action records.

We do a lot of importing with default sets and cannot afford time to reconfigure each record for the what we need on them. PLEASE add this function.

Ridiculous that this still hasn't happened.

I definitely need this feature, especially for my org where we use several custom fields for an Action. Being able to choose from a default set will prevent people from forgetting about custom fields. Maybe an alert to pop-up and show that there is a required custom field as well?

Agreed! This would be a great thing to have.

Please add the default for Action records. Upgrades should not restrict functionality.

The fact this functionality isn't available in web-view is very prohibitive to my philanthropy team embracing the platform. We just upgraded to RENXT, and it's very difficult to sell it to my team as an "upgrade" when they feel we have lost functionality in the "newer" platform vs. what we had in RE7.

I want to add that default sets for constituents and relationships is also very important. We use these all the time in database view and the fact that we cannot use them in web view is a barrier to using web view because it is less efficient.

Fantastic piece of functionality that I would love to see replicated in Web View. Allows for faster, more accurate data entry.

It feels like the Ideas bank is a place where suggestions and complaints come to die. Funnel people to the Ideas bank and then diffuse the situation (a few people committed enough to log into the Ideas bank and take their time to write up their idea. Everyone adds separate yet similar suggestions) and make people vote on those granularized ideas until they have "enough votes" to warrant the attention of Blackbaud engineers (ie. almost never).

The ability to set defaults for Actions and Opportunities would speed my organization's database work up tenfold. Considering this is an issue that's been raised in the Ideas bank for the past four years with no movement, we won't hold out for this improvement anytime soon.

Up to 135 merged votes but still not deemed a "Planned" (or even "Voting Open", whatever that means) idea for RE NXT.

I'll just repeat my request from 2.5 years ago... Can the other Ideas like this one, i.e. those asking for default sets in RE, please be combined into one idea?

That, I believe, will give this concept a much higher vote total and give Blackbaud developers a more accurate indication of  interest levels among us users.
