Customized PDF of giving statement and receipts with our OWN WORDING and BRANDING

As of now , the giving statement and receipts in PDF are black and white, we cannot customize our own message, our own thank you to our donors, our own layout; we cannot even add a logo or anything... we cannot customize and remove unessessary part of the giving statement...

Both PDF of giving statement and gift receipts are VERY BLEND AND BORING.. we need branding! We need to send our donors nice and presentable statement and receipts in our own words and branding!

Customization is critical, agree with everyone below. Adding that customization is needed so we can control what kind of giving statement they receive. If we send a tax-deductible statement, we can't include non-donation gifts in the statement. Currently none of the following is possible.

    1. DONATION vs NON-DONATION FUNDS — We are not able to select only donation funds to be shown on an NXT Giving Statement. So any gift can show up, including DAF.

    2. HOUSEHOLD STATEMENTS VS. INDIVIDUAL — We cannot send household statements, they are individually created per constituent. This is potentially very confusing as each spouse would receive the other's soft credits. Ability, to turn off or choose whether soft credits, pledges, etc show on the statement could help so they only see their direct gifts made.

    3. GIFT TYPE — The giving statement won't show gift type (wire transfer, DAF, venmo, check, credit card, etc)

    CONS

    1. No customization -- we can't send household statements (each constituent receives their own), no brand logo or other notes/statements on the PDF gift statement, no ability to select or deselect gift types, soft credits, donation or non-donation funds

    2. Soft credit confusion — potential confusion for "other credit" section. Will they understand that it's not a duplicate gift if they each receive their own statement. Needs a better explanation or visual, ability to add description or change font.

    3. Donor inconvenience -- donor has to tally up their own tax-deductible totals or decipher information from their spouses. It's not clear.

this post was a few years back, and it’s still aweful. It’s now two pages. Ideleted some bits that we can alter so it’s back to one page. But there’s still redundancy, spaces where they should be, no spaces where they should be.

it’s a little embarrassing to have to send out.

and as for the ikg and shares receipt not being CRA compliant…for now i’m making those gifts as one-time gifts so i can issue a compliant receipt.

    no other choice.

Very happy to see this changed to "Planned". I hope that both Gift in Kind and Shares receipts will be able to display the gift amount as part of this plan as well (I'm not sure there is much value in issuing a receipt without the amount of the gift). It's great to see someone will be spending time on this and there will be more customization of the PDF receipt.

I'd also add that I have donor who prefer a printed receipt, even if we have their email on file. It is frustrating that clicking on issue receipt from the gift record only shows the PDF option if there's no email on file. There have been many times where I want to mail a receipt, or handwrite a note on a receipt, and to get a PDF to download takes more steps that needed because the email on file makes the system default to only showing the "email receipt" option.

Thanks for working on this, it's very much needed!

To be honest, in this day and age of everything digital, how a document looks can be the difference between someone keeping or deleting your communications. To be honest, even if this giving statement came attached to an email from an organization I support, I would think the email was a SPAM of Phishing email - becasue why wouldn't the giving statement match the branding of the organization? What would make me think this is a valid document? And to add to that - none of the organizations I donate to send out documents that look as generic as these. None.

It is also a problem that In-Kind gift receipts do not include the amount of the gift and there is no way to change this because the receipts are not customizable.

I agree! We need to be able to customize statements so that we are issuing a professional looking receipt that aligns with organizational branding.

It would be nice if the statements can include all gifts. We were so mortified when a donor came back to us saying their statement was incorrect - where are the gifts from sale of stock? What's the point of a statement if it's not comprehensive? This is was BB stated when questioned:

"Unfortunately, you are correct, giving statements would not include some gift types, such as Stock Property gift.

Giving statements will only include, one-time gifts, recurring gift payments, and pledge payments and are not intended to be used as official tax documents.

At this time, you would still want to run an annual report to get a statement of all giving history for your donors."

Yes! This is the one reason why orgs I work with don't use this feature at all.

And being able to add the tax info so this can be an emailed tax statement instead of telling the donor to refer to the individual receipts they got throughout the year that few people actually pay attention to since they know they'll get a complete statement later is better for donor relations.

We don't currently use the giving statements just because we cannot customize them. Please make this happen!

This is a critical need. We have had lots of feedback from donors that they look unprofessional and very basic. We shouldn't have to do extra work or pay for another service, just to have them branded and customized.

Beyond tax and courtesy matters, attractive and branded giving statements and receipts are important touch-points with donors. Being able to generate these as customizable documents would make my supervisor's job easier, and subsequently mine as well...especially at year end, which is a busy time already. BB is such a a robust and multifaceted software; surely this is a feature that could (and should) be adopted.

Customization is critical for giving statements. In this area, one size definitely DOES NOT fit all. This document is one small piece of our stewardship efforts, but the current format makes us look lazy and disconnected. The current format is completely unacceptable an d does not fit our needs.

The NXT giving statements and receipts don't meet our needs at all, and create a lot of extra work for us to have to export data and create our own separate mail merges. Having this functionality is crucial. We were sold on the system with the expectation that this functionality would work, and it feels like a bait and switch that it still doesn't.

    100%.

I can't believe printed receipts were even rolled out in the limited format in which they currently exist in NXT. In general, for a company that is as proud of its product offerings as Blackbaud is, and as hard as they are pushing to force everyone to be early adopters of NXT, there are an awful lot of capabilities and flexibility that we have in database view that are not available in NXT. If I could do in NXT what I can do in Database view, I'd change. Until I can, stop with the saber-rattling and stop acting like restoration of current functionality should be filed as an enhancement request to be taken under advisement. It's an insult.

We definitely need to be able to customize which fields show up on the giving statements and receipts. As they are we cannot use them because the information does not make sense to donors without the ability to customize - because of the way we track and code our gifts.

Would it be possible to have branding - the logo or letterhead options to add to giving statements by the end of this year? We sent giving statements at the end of 2024 and then received many calls because nothing really indicated it was us.
