I have recently noticed that guests of participants will have a constituent record created if their registration information does not match any records. Previously, I believe the guest would just be added as a Named Guest if their information did not match. Would there be a way to turn this option On or Off? Our organization prefers NOT to create constituent records for guests of participants, but would create records for new registrants. (Registrant = Main person on the form. Guest = an extra person on the same form.)
This is our biggest problem with Event forms. The ability to manage guests before many, many duplicate records are created.
We continue to have problems with folks registering that put in Bill Smith instead of William Smith and creating duplicate constituent records - have there been talks of a holding place similar to OLX for duplicates?
Today we released a change for guests. If the guest is not the host, it will attempt to match them to a constituent record. If no match or multiple matches are found, a non-constituent/Named Guest record will be created for them.
You can use the Edit Participant functionality from the Participant list to further change the Participant if needed.

Great News!
Thanks Sam!
Cant wait to test this out!
Currently, new records are created if the guests have any type of contact information, like an email address, physical address or phone number included. We will soon be making a change to instead write these as "Named Guests" instead of constituents if they do not match to an existing record.
I'll post back on this Idea once this is released!
