When you add a relationship, they aren't automatically a constituent. You can click to add New, then enter the information you need. Once you've added the relationship, if you click through to that new spouse record, you should see a button at the top that says "Change to constituent." Unless you've clicked that button they aren't a constituent.
Is there another process I'm missing where they ARE added as a constituent by default?
Hey David, I don't see how the X is the spouse does not solve for this since I have already had to add all of the constituent information to CREATE a new constituent. My issue with this is 2 fold, i don't want to add the spouse as a constituent, and also, i don't want to create the required fields for addressee and salutation for the individual, when i;m going to use the primary for these fields.
To add the spouse without creating a constituent would create parity and help us avoid creating duplicate records
Is there a way to add spouse without creating a record in NXT? We don't want spouses taking up limited records when we do not contact name. We just simply need their names.
You actually can do this currently, but it's a little labor intensive. You just have to go down to Relationships and add the relationship, and then click the "X is the spouse" checkbox.

As noted above, this is possible now by marking the "X is the spouse" checkbox. This adds the new record as a non-constituent record.

This should be much easier than the way it is set up right now. Not intuitive at all.
