@Rachael the process is apply recurring gift payments to pledge installments is not part of this release and it is not a process we are considering implementing. Those 2 types of gifts have completely different accounting practices and we do not plan to combine them.

I am seeing a merged idea for the ability to apply recurring gift payments to a pledge. Has this idea specifically actually been shipped? Can we expect that anytime soon because I have not heard anything about this but it would really help us clean up our gift records!

@Brenda yes that is what it means. Any CC of DD pledge will automatically create the installments the same way it happens for recurring gifts. If you also get a one off payment via cash or check, you can apply that to the pledge installments as well as needed.

Does this mean the payment pays down the pledge when downloaded to the donor record? Can we easily pay the pledge with the payment if we have to?

@Brandy this is available today for any new pledges added in web view with a payment method of Credit Card or Direct Debit. We will have a conversion process at some point to move your existing gifts into this model.

We definitely need this. Right now, we’re manually processing most of our recurring credit card donations since they’re tied to pledges, and it would be so much better if they ran the same way as recurring gifts.

@sunshine based on the summary of this idea and it being compared to automated recurring gifts, it looks like we did meet that with the automated pledge work. There is still the process for running the generate transactions process that does automate it for the donors but it is manually for the users, that is planned but not something I think we are tracking with this idea.

Please expedite this option on priority basis so pledges payments just like recurring gifts can be automated. We have to do a manual batch transaction which is too cumbersome.

Totally agree. We are spending time on workarounds, when paying off a pledge via recurring gift is the perfect way to pay off a pledge.

Agreed! We have donors setting up a pledge and wanting to pay if off via a recurring gift (they give us the end date via the gift comments in BBMS and we enter it) but this is not available. Messes with reporting and makes a lot more manual work for us and the donor.

I agree that this is a big need and would be essential to our office running more efficiently. This would also be great with the new client portal feature.

Pledge payments need to change. We have the following complaints by donors:

1. They want to add weekly donations

2. They want to be able to choose the start and end date!

3. I want these payments to automatically generate.

You have all the pieces there really. This needs to change to reflect what other systems like yours can do.

Yes, it's crazy that recurring gifts can't be tracked as pledge payments in NXT. Messes with campaign reporting and leads to having to do a bunch of manual manipulation that should be unnecessary.

Yes please! We have a constituent who is setting up a 2 year pledge, and when I ran it through the NXT recurring form, it doesn't allow for an end date, so I'm going to have to do some gymnastics to avoid it running over. And then, we can't even record the total amount of the pledge because I can't put a total on the recurring gift. I literally just had a meeting with my boss on whether we can do this or not this morning...

Yes! The new recurring gifts automation would be exciting if I didn't still have to exact same manual process as before for our pledge payments. We also had this capability with etap.
