Add and Edit Gift Notes
It would be nice if program staff could add notes to gifts in webview. Related to that, add more permission levels so that those staff are able to edit gift notes but none of the gift information.
This would add more detail and context for other program staff using NXT to understand the gift history.

Adding gift notes in NXT
Merged In Database view you can add notes to an individual's gift by going to miscellaneous then new notepad. I use this when cars are donated. This creates a field where I can enter the car make and model. I don't see anyway to do this in NXT.Shipped

The batch functionality is releasing this coming tuesday.
One of the ideas that was merged into this was specifically about being able to add notes during batch entry in web view (I-6898). I'm not seeing that mentioned anywhere here. Is that functionality planned? It would be incredibly helpful to us as we transition from Banner to RE NXT. In Banner, entering a comment is a normal part of gift entry and we frequently used it to store information that we wanted on the receipt/acknowledgment. The character limit on the comment/reference field available in batch entry makes it too small for our purposes. A text custom field/attribute can work for some of our needs, but it's still too limited for other needs.
You can add notes at the gift level...once saved it shows Author:_____________ but when adding said note there is nowhere to chose author? Weird...another short coming of Raiser's Edge NXT webview...you have to jump in to Database view to add author. 🤨
We would like to import gift notes into batch but it looks like the fields are not available yet?
Hoping we'll see gift notes and gift note types being added to grid view batch soon.
@jane this has been fixed.
@marcia the gift notes function is in a tile on the gift record. The Edit option on the gift record is being updated now and will have the rest of the gift details available to edit by the end of the month. Adjustments are coming with that as well.
I'm not seeing the ability to edit anything on the gift but the constituent (or refund)
@Jane, it looks like there was an issue with the way it rolled out. We are correcting that now. You should be able to edit existing as well as create new regardless of where it originiated.
So glad that the ability to add and edit notes has been added to web view. However, we also need the ability to edit notes that already exist on gift records.
Unless I'm missing something, gift notes can be added but only on the first entry pass. Once the gift is added, there's no editing or adding notes. This is crucial for information learned later.

We have work planned to address all the fields that are currently not editable in web view. Included in the work we have defined for the individual fields to be editable, gift notes is part of that upcoming project.
We need this functionality as we add letters that were sent out as text in notes for gifts. Right now I have to go to DBV to add the gift note. Once DBV goes away if this function is not added I will not be able to add these notes.

There are a few New Ideas that reflect this same request, thus watering down the votes.
It is really backwards that we have to go to the database view to add a comment (gift reference in database view) or notes on a gift record. Please allow this to happen in webview.
Is there any update on this happening? We could really use this feature.
