2 Reasons
1.All media attachments were pulled over with the same date and a generic "Media" name. We are unable to identify documents when searching for previous grant documents. Can the transferred media from RE, use the date on the media tab?
2. New documents added to media on NXT we can edit the name and type but not the date added. If the document is not loaded right away, the wrong date displays. We have staff that assist with uploading and they can be a month behind.
Having a date field in NXT for attachments will fix both of these issues. As it is important to be able to identify when a document was uploaded to find historical information.
Additional info for BB dev folks working on this...
In our situation, we have re-purposed the 'Title' field to be a 'Source' field (where did we get the info vs a 'Type' field of what 'type' of data is it) and then we are using the 'Description' field for the actual "Title" of the file. Why?? - because the Title field only allows 50 characters (ass text field) while the 'Description' field allows 255 characters. While we certainly wouldn't think that a title would need 255 characters, it highly likely that a "Title" would often times be longer than 50 characters.
We're fine with having to change our use of the fields - however, we would strongly request that the "Title" field be allowed to hold more than a mere 50 characters. Perhaps 125 characters would suffice, but in the end, why not just allow the 255 characters. A SQL db does not care about the empty space if not used. To limit to 50 characters is not realistic!
Agreed...and good to know that this is in the works. However, fixing this sooner rather than later would be preferred. Not being able to edit the date or to put a source is a huge killer. Also, if adding the attachment through NXT, how can we query those attachments like we can on the media. Our Prospect Research team adds a lot of pdf's...if they can't add them with the dates and source through NXT and if they can't find them through a query, we will be forced to add them through the media tab in the database view.
This is all in the works. We are hanging tight until the dates are corrected (I was assured at bbcon that the Media Date is still there, just not visible at the moment) and additional fields are visible and editable. The generic "Media" name is because your Media Records in RE:7 had a null Title field. If you are still embedding Media in RE:7, be sure to put your Name as the Title, and it should copy over to NXT within an hour or so with the Attachment Filename as the Media Title. The date will still appear incorrect for now, but should be fixed at some point.
