Email builder needs to be able to handle Addressees and Salutations as they were designed for in the database view

Email builder needs to be able to handle addressee/salutations more like how they are handled in the database view. Like in exports - you can format based on the individual, configuration, or the individual name - use this otherwise use this . . . Per email not at the system level. I need to be able to build this out as an entire database was built around this ability (we have been using RE since 1987) This is particularly important to orgs that do not want/need a record for each individual in a couple. Preferred name doesn't work. This is essential and the more add ons we have to purchase from third parties the harder it is for me to justify to leadership that Blackbaud is worth its value. I love for you clients that use Constant Contact that it is now integrated but we don't want to use a third party vendor for a tool that is so close to being perfect for our needs.

There are a few similar ideas in the idea bank but none this specific and we were recently told that if it isn't exactly what we are looking for we should start a new idea.

These are the ones I could find that were close but not quite:

Some couples share an email address and I manually change the salutation in Excel to include both individuals. Ultimately I want to set up an informal joint salutation. Now I've learned that we can't even use specific salutations in emails sent through NXT!

Our organization uses the informal salutation in our regular snail mail campaigns and would like to use that in our email campaigns. Informal Salutation is available in RENXT but there is no way to take this into the email merge field. I can only merge in the constituents first name, but if there is a spouse, here is no way to merge that into the same email. We would be satisfied with "Primary Salutation" but that is not ideal for us.

NXT Email Marketing absolutely needs to have have Primary Salutation and Primary Addressee added as a Donor Merge Field option. It is disappointing how long this has taken to add this option. It appears to be coming based on similar posts. Fingers crossed!

I have said about a million times that one of the best things about RE was being able to tailor add/sals ... and now that we're looking at doing some of our emails within RE, I'm incredibly frustrated. Do I now need to go in and make every person's first name also their nickname? Also, someone makes a good point - sometimes a spouse doesn't have their own record. I feel like this is going to lead to needless/incorrect data.

This is very important - and the whole point of having an addressee/salutation is to create accurate communications, so they should be usable in email.

This is really important for our organization. We use different salutations if we are emailing a individual based on their alumni connection or based on thier parent connection.

This is important. Many organizations have custom addressees and salutations that they would like to use for specific email campaigns but would also like the fail-safe of having a second choice if that one isn't present.
