Enable Filtering by Address/City in NXT

I would like to be able to search by address or city inside NXT without going to Database View.

This would be helpful while on the road to quickly identify nearby donors using the NXT App.  This is also helpful as many fundraisers will become proficient with NXT while not having great skill inside the Database View.

Simply being able to type in a city/address in the search bar and having all matching information show up would be of great help.

Thanks for the quick response, Jarod. Just to be clear, it is state boundaries – not distance – that defines our needs.

I need to filter lists by constituents of members of Congress. For Representative, we purchase congressional district data for our records. For Senators, we have cobbled together a filter that uses the Congressional District custom field with a “Begins with” filter. But our Congressional District data has a time lag and we are generally only 97% accurate. The ability to actually filter on the state field of the address would greatly improve that accuracy.

As usual, to an outsider, this seems like a fairly simple feature to add. I’m sure it’s more complicated from your perspective.

Hey Gary, understood. We agree that the current way this is accomplished is less than ideal for the scenario you are describing.

We are actually working on some address (and radius) filters now that will enhance your ability to filter Lists based on distance from Address, City, State, and/or Zip. I'm thinking this will meet your needs in a much more user friendly way. We're expecting these List filters to ship shortly after the new year.

    Responding to Jarod

Don't fool yourselves into thinking you have addressed this need.  I have used used the mapping functionality, but it simply zooms in on an area.  It doesn't allow me to apply a filter unless I use the drawing tool.  If I want "Ohio" records, it will show me the state, but I cannot filter the list by "Ohio" unless I attempt to draw a line around the state's irregular borders.  We deal with constituents by state, because we are attempting to influence U.S. senators.  We need to be able to filter lists by the state field in their home address.

Hey there! Just curious to see if everyone on this idea has had a chance to view the Mapping functionality in NXT yet. It allows you to do exactly what this idea suggests! Type in a city/state (or just browse to one) and see all your constituents in a mapped view.

It would be particularly helpful to be able to filter by state
