This idea has been merged into another idea. To comment or vote on this idea, please visit RENXT-I-5069 When two people are related as spouses, gifts should be soft-credited..
We have accounts where the spouse record is converted to a constituent, but they are not soft credited on historic giving.
Currently, organizations can update historical spouse soft credits through Database View. As Blackbaud continues moving functionality to RE NXT, the loss of this capability creates a significant gap. Without a way to retroactively apply spouse soft credits in RE NXT, gift management teams must either export and import this data or manually update each gift record, making it difficult to maintain accurate and up-to-date giving histories.
Providing a way to apply spouse soft credits to historical gifts would improve data integrity, reduce administrative effort, and ensure organizations can fully manage household giving records within RE NXT.

This is an important option that is available in database view, but not web view. It should be optional just like DBV, as not all cases require soft crediting any/all of the gifts. That decision depends on the gift and wedding dates, specific donor requests, and the organization's policy on soft crediting.
We are in the process of promoting specific spouse records to full constituent records and use the "Soft Credit for Spouses Gifts" option under Constituent in database view on a regular basis so historical giving is identical. It's an especially important option when a couple divorces. Our database dates back to the early 1990's DOS version where there was only one record for a couple so being able to use this option for long-standing donors who are no longer together has been a huge time-saver.
Yes, please!
As long as we are doing this, I'd love the OPTION of being able to soft credit the spouse for gifts that the other spouse is already soft credited for.
Example: Beth and Ann Smith are married and Ann is a non-constituent spouse. Beth has a soft credit on her record from the Beth & Ann Smith Foundation. I promote Ann to a full constituent and soft credit her for all the gifts hard credited on Beth's record. The system will then prompt me to say "Beth has gift(s) for which she received soft credit. Would you also like to add a soft credit for Ann for these gifts as well?"
We use this A LOT in database view when we convert non-constituent spouse records into a full constituent record.
It would also be great if we could do it for corporate relationships. Example: if we have a company foundation record that we link to the actual company record and we want to soft-credit the company for all of the company foundation gifts.
We use this feature in dbv often, please add it to web view! It will slow down our data entry significantly.
Yes, please. Right now, we need to slip into db view to use the Constituent > Soft Credit for Spouse's Gifts when a non-constituent spouse is converted to a full constituent.
Also, sometimes we discover that two individuals are actually married. Being able to just click "soft credit for spouse's gifts" is a massive time saver!
Can be done in database view, and needs to be possible in web.
