We want to give our volunteer solicitors the rights to log in and view only the the constituents who are assigned to them. This isn't an option in security, but I can work around it by allowing them to only to view a specific constituent code. It would be much easier if there was an option to only view those who are assigned to them.
Constituent code security is the way that we accomplish this today. We have heard the need and some folks want to lock down search as one way to handle it. We will evaluate the best possible option to accomplish the need depending on how prevalent it is but currently will mark as Will Not Address to set expectations. We aren't currently evaluating this specifically.
I think this is very important, especially because in many cases a Board member or fundraising volunteer should not be able to view their OWN RECORD on which we track very sensitive information. Please pursue this idea...
This was the first question I asked when we migrated to NXT. I can't believe that it's not possible yet! I hope this idea is approved!!!
Thank you so much, Blackbaud, for merging the 4 ideas into 1 idea!
Any chance the votes could be combined for a singular total (they total 190 as of today's date)?
Blackbaud, this is also a duplicate Idea request, please MERGE this one as well and combine all the votes!

Blackbaud: We do not seem to be able to request merges of duplicate ideas anymore, so I'm requesting it in the comments... please MERGE this idea with https://renxt.ideas.aha.io/ideas/RENXT-I-99 and combine the votes!!!
This would be a game changer for Dickinson as well. Please work on this!!!
This is possible. I just tested successfully. I do not have the time to type out the process but you need to make sure your RE 7 db view user and security group settings are set up properly, and then in NXT you have to make sure you link that user to their RE7 user record. Then under the security group in NXT they have to have unchecked under Work that they CANNOT view unassigned.
Basically when fundraiser logs in they have access to their portfolio and gifts. They cannot see other work tabs, nor can they search for any other constituent. See screen shot.
Reach out to me if you want more clarification.
This is critical as a means to protect donor privacy - which includes those who are serving as volunteer solicitors.
I agree with Melissa. One of the selling points of RE NXT is to let those into the database we have not let in before, including volunteers, whether class agents, volunteer fundraisers like board members, other staff who are not in Development and others. Yet we can't let them into the whole database, and managing this all with constituent codes is incredibly onerous and risky. The product needs to support the marketing of the product and it should be easy to just say, in essence, Allow this user to only see the constituents they are currently assigned to as a solicitor/fundraiser. As a consultant, I have had several clients interested in allowing other such people into the database who have decided not to when realizing how much work, effort, trouble, time and risk is involved in having to do it under the current structure. (While I don't want to derail this specific ability being implemented, it would be helpful if this need was looked at holistically so there are additional options so that such users' experiences are as simple and streamlined as possible--for example, they shouldn't see the Home page at all; if they are given List rights, and not just Work Center rights, be sure the Lists respect the constituent restrictions as well; etc.--I would check the social media and Community postings on this to see some of other challenges as well and try to address those.) Thanks!
I agree with Melissa. This decision makes no sense in light of the fact that many of us rely on quite a number of solicitors who should really only have access to their own assignments. This includes volunteers or folks within the larger organization with limited time to learn the system like trustees. Currently a separate security group would have to be set up for each one of these folks to attain the desired outcome. This could be attained with a simple checkbox in NXT or on the RE security record that said something like "limit access to solicitor's assigned constituents." Blackbaud has promised to become more solicitor/fundraiser focused in their software - this would be a good way to keep up that promise.
This is awful that you have chosen not to do this. One of the main reasons NXT can be so enticing is the unlimited users so that we can get volunteers on it and have them perform actions, etc. But we would want to be able to assign them only a small group for a short time. To have to do both a solicitor assignment AND a constituent code setup is ridiculous. And each person will have a different group so this means A TON of constituent codes - that would be ridiculous.
We are currently evaluating NXT to determine if it is a better solution for us. I was under the impression this security could be set so each solicitor saw only their assigned records. Knowing that is NOT available completely changes our focus on going to NXT and makes the competitor product we are evaluating look that much better.
Struggling with this right now also. We have both, parent and alumni volunteer solicitors. Many schools and universities using 3rd party software for this (AgentSphere, Voluntarii, etc.) Perhaps a solution will emerge using one of the 3rd party solutions and SKY API?
Please consider adding this request to evaluate. We purchased RE NXT to be able to allow our volunteer solicitors to view their prospects but are unfortunately unable to do this because we can't limit them to just their prospects. Using Constituent codes to limit them would mean adding a different code to each prospect.
We have board members that do work as solicitors for us, and some of them would love to be able to do their own work in RE. It would be great to be able do give them this level of access! Via a query makes sense to me, but if another option is better, great.
I agree! We are trying to figure out this exact problem right now and completely agree about being able to restrict by query.
This would definitely be something we would be looking for in adding NXT to our BB products.
I agree with Jen. We'd love to allow more people to access only a small section of records.
It would be great to be able to grant/restrict access based on a query (like a business rule). That way, you can write the query using whatever parameters you want.
