The functionality is definitely not the same. With the new designation search, we have to add all active funds manually we want donors to be able to search for, instead of just excluding those we don't want donors to give to. An extensive amount of extra work to set up and maintain as funds are added and closed compared to the old giving search in NetCommunity.

Earlier this year we released a new "designation search" website component. I am closing this Idea, if you have suggestions for additions to the new components please submit a new Idea!

We are in development on a new website component for a giving search to allow donors to search by funds. We hope to release a first version of this later this year!
