Per KB117970, it is NOT possible to remove a Start Date or End Date from the Volunteer record. It will return as an exception in a Global Change regardless of the selections made. This is a limitation of the Volunteer Module. Global Change needs to allow for complete deletion of the entire row of Volunteer data in the General tab, not just certain fields. Otherwise, this leaves orphaned & nonsensical data on the record.
