@Courtney Graham - the NXT Event registration form does allow you to ask questions (via participant options) based on registration type. Here's how to set this up:
First, make sure you have a fee for your Volunteer and a participant option for the Position question you want to ask on the event record itself.

When you add a new event registration form, your participant option will already be on your form. Hover over it and select "Edit." On the edit screen you'll be able to determine what registration types you want the option to show up for.

Please make it possible to have a question for one participation type but not for all of them. There needs to be a way to allow for people to sign up as a volunteer on TeamRaiser events. Not having the ability to include a question for one participation type but not another does not make sense for the platform and what it is used for. I need to have a question available for volunteers to choose a position for the race but do not want or need it on the other registration types for runners.

PLEASE add this feature, it is one of the biggest reasons why we are using a different registration system right now because we need to ask if/than questions on a regular basis.

Thanks for your suggestions! Since these are actually 3 different ideas, I'm going to separate this out into different ideas so people can vote on them individually. I also have some questions for you.

1. Conditional questions - I'll leave this Idea open for conditional questions.
2. All participant options/custom fields should have option to be marked as required - do you want to mark these as required for backoffice entry or for the online forms? Today, you can determine which participant options you want required on the online form by selecting "Edit" for each one and choosing to make it required.
3. All for event managers to add an attribute in NXT across all registrants/participants/invitees. There's an existing idea for this here: https://renxt.ideas.aha.io/ideas/RENXT-I-3545, please use that idea for voting. I'm also interested in hearing more about what you're using that common attribute for...can you give me some examples and what you do with that data?
