DeActivate "Inactive" Constituent Records from NXT

The "Is Inactive" checkbox on the Bio 1 Tab in Classic RE should serve a more useful purpose.  Would love to see Blackbaud make these truly Inactive - not visible in NXT AND not counted toward total organization record count for billing purposes.  This would give clients a way to archive records but not lose valuable historic data.  Otherwise, we are put in the position of having to delete records when our database gets too large in order to avoid unnecessary additional costs.

    2024, still an issue.

This is still an issue. How can we recommend BB make this change?

This is definitely not "shipped". The option to display or not display inactive records from NXT search would be really helpful. We're working through duplicate resolution and before deleting merged records, they're marked as inactive. Until we actually delete these records we have so many duplicates to sift through when searching for someone. (merged two systems into RE).

I dont get how this is showing that it was shipped, but inactive records are still showing up in NXT.

It is 2020 and this still is an issue.  The RENXT search bar DOES NOT indicate whether a record is inactive or not.  I get complaints that there are duplicates, only to find out that one or more of them was inactive.  They shouldn't even be visible.

I wish this was an option.  I have 4 dummy constituents assigned to me...one is marked Inactive for something I was testing the other day.  I'm in NXT now, and my Work Center shows 4 Assigned on the Portfolio Tile but 3 Assigned on the Portfolio Tab.  Clicking on the 4 opens the Tab and shows only 3 records.  It is very confusing, especially when working with a higher number of records, to figure out where/what the discrepancy is.

I would prefer a checkbox toggle to show Inactive Records.

I agree.  I thought that was the purpose of making donors inactive, at least I was told to do it so fundraisers would only see active donors in NXT.

We are very close to providing filters on work center and list for both Inactive and Deceased records so if you want them there they can be, if you don't want them there you can filter them out.

I disagree with the original suggestion -- it is important to be able to view all records in NXT including inactive and deceased.

Yes - it would be great to be able to remove Inactive codes across the board for fields

Along with this, and "inactive" codes that don't show in the database view are available in NXT, so users not as familiar with the software are searching or filtering lists using inactive codes and not getting very reliable data.

This was a difficult decision on how to account for Inactive constituents in RE NXT pricing.  As they provide value to organizations as part of the donor database and they contribute to disk space and processing demands, they are included in the record count.  We can look at how to make them less visible in the NXT web view, such as additional filters for hiding inactive.  Thanks for the feedback.

I am also fairly new to Raiser's Edge and NXT and am also - horrified would not be too strong of a word.  :-)   And we are a hospice, so due to so many IMO donations we have many deceased persons in our database, but many of them are relationships to active donors so it is problematic to delete them.  We have not figured out a solution to this yet, and it seems counterproductive to be forced to pay for increased database capacity for NXT.

I wholeheartedly agree. As someone who has worked with data across different industries, I was absolutely horrified to learn that Blackbaud's solution for many problems is to delete off old data. Along with human confusion, this runs data amok in any relational database. Inheriting a database where previous users have followed Blackbaud's advice of deleting records has caused endless headaches for me.
