Expand Support of Special Characters
We are finding that not all special characters from the character map is not supported in Raiser's Edge or Raiser's Edge NXT. Characters such as, "ä" or "ß" or "ü," etc While some fields in RE support this, other's do not. The address field, name field, and salutations/addressees fields should all be able to support these characters. This is especially needed as we continue to fund-raise in our increasingly global society.

Please add support for all language characters in exports as well. When I attempt to export lists from NXT webview, they export incorrectly (i.e. Fundación in webview becomes Fundación in the export).
Living in a country that has two official languages means we get a large number of names that contain accents. While it looks like RE supports these names by allowing us to store the special characters in the name field they connectors we have are using a question mark in place of the special characters since RE doesn't handle them. This is causing an issue when sending emails as instead of côté we are getting c?t? which confuses donors.
We need special characters to be searchable and "matchable", likely by piggy-backing on the "sounds like" tool currently used in Raiser's Edge or NXT. All you need to do is update the library of "near" characters that could be represented by standard QUERTY text entry.
This would make so many things much more accurate: Prospect Insights, Duplicates, Deceased and all the other "Finders" matching names, OLX signups, NXT Events registration, etc.
Agreed, we require ā,ē,ī,ō,ū to address people correctly.
