Allow configuration of gift types included in Constituent Giving (Total/Consecutive years giving, First, Latest, Greatest, and Lifetime Giving amounts)

Allow gift types included in these amounts to be user definable. Some organizations would like things like Planned Gifts, Gifts-in-Kind, and Other gifts to be included. Other organizations would like them to be excluded. The same is true for soft credits. So allowing users to configure what they want included would be helpful.

This is an important change, especially for planned gifts as noted by others. Thanks!

Great news! After reviewing this request, I believe that some of our recent work for giving analysis settings in Control Panel provide just what you need.

To help maximize the value of these settings, Steve Stegelin recently wrote a blog post to help: https://community.blackbaud.com/blogs/13/5394

Seriously.  This confuses my development officers to no end.

We need the ability to exclude "other" from lifetime giving and it's not possible to do so without the option to customize by gift type. It would be very helpful to add this as a setting that can be configured at the administrator level, so that when staff members pull up a constituent profile the lifetime giving accurately reflects what our organization "counts" towards recognition/lifetime giving totals.

Not including planned gifts in the Lifetime Giving total seems like a huge oversight. Our organization is strongly in favor of being able to customize what is and isn't included in Lifetime Giving.

This is absolutely critical for our organization...

YES to this request!   We consider matching gift payments to be soft credits - after all, the gift would not have been received were it not for the constituent. The database view allows us to select that gift type.  Having a different giving summary display  in RE NXT as opposed to the database view creates mistrust in those using the tools. Whatever we were able to configure in the database view NEEDS to be allowed in the web view.

Hey everyone. I went ahead and changed the title of this idea to be something more generic and will be merging other similar ideas into it to get a better view of how many users/clients are looking for this capability. Just wanted to let you know why its being edited!

I apologize for the delay.  I have been out on vacation.  It looks like the information you needed has already been provided.  Thank you for reaching out for clarification.  As stated from other users, it is a significant problem when a Major Gifts Officer looks at the summary on a file and it shows little to no gifts when in fact that donor may have a million dollar planned gift.   Through the transition to NXT, my leadership team now looks primarily at the Summary Information and wants all information reflected on that tile.  Please let me know if you have any further questions.  Thanks for all your help!

OK great! Thanks for your help. I've updated the title of this suggestion based on the input and I'll bring the idea to the team to discuss further.

You are correct.  They are listed in the transactions but not in the summary.

Thanks for the response. I will take this to the development team to review, but I want to make sure I understand the concern. Not being included in the lifetime giving stats is helpful, but I actually do see them in the transactions list on the Giving tile. I attached an image from an internal sample database that we have in Production to make sure I'm not looking in the wrong place.

I'm not Holli but I voted for this suggestion because planned gifts are not included when you look at the NXT view of a record under the heading of Giving.  I used a screen shot of our dummy record that does not contain any gifts just to show the general area however if gifts exist, you have to click on "work with gifts" below the transaction list to see if any planned gifts are there.  They also don't calculate into the summary information for lifetime giving, first gift, latest gift or greatest gift.

Hey Holli! Thanks for the suggestion. Can you clarify what you mean by the "Giving Snapshot"?

We have many planned gifts of significant value; this is a big hindrance to our fundraisers using NXT.
