We need to be able to have a running audit log for all changes made to any record. We should be able to trace which user has made an edit and when. Without an audit log, it is incredibly hard to show when something has changed, and it is hard to trace back any mistakes.
agreed. an audit trail is data integrity 101. "last changed" info is the same whether the change was deleting giving history or adding a preferred name. barely informative.
Agree that this should be functionality that is native to RENXT and does not require a third party. It has been needed forever, and many other systems have included this for years. Many of those systems cost a lot less than RENXT too.
I want to second Danielle Repic's comment: "Without having to use a third party"
Yes, our finance team has been asking for this for years. They would like to see an audit trail pledges specifically
I agree that this is totally necessary and that we should not have to use a third-party application to do this.
This is so necessary for my day to day maintenance- knowing who entered gifts, who created profiles, who last changed an information point is all critical to being able to track down information and answer later questions about information. It allows me as an admin to catch mistakes that are commonly being made, and correct with users before they get out of hand.
Without having to use a third party
Audit logs should have been available since RE was conceptualized. How do organizations prove that they have taken timely action when privacy laws change (GDPR)? How do administrators assess user competency?
also applies to query, export, import, etc
When handling donor information and gift information, this is critical. Ask any auditor.
