Gift lists are handy communicators between Development and Finance, but not showing Fund IDs makes it less of a tool. We often have Funds in a family according to ID number. The description might make it difficult to sort according to these families. It seems like Fund Descriptions helps someone who isn't a database person. I would vote for having both ID and Description.
I agree - our gift officers only know the description name, but for myself and finance, we always communicate with the fund id. The starting number of the fund immediately tells us the category (current, endowment, restricted, etc.) and a description does not.
