The update recently made to NXT that now asks for the CSC (CVV) and postcode, and not the name on the card, is very unhelpful. We need to have the "name on card" otherwise it comes through to Merchant Services as "No name", which makes it near impossible to figure out which donation belongs to who.
We also cannot ask donors to put their CSC code on postal donation forms - if that goes missing in the mail then anyone potentially has full access to that donor's credit card, so frankly, this change is quite dangerous.
Making changes to suit backend checks is one thing, but you also need to determine how it affects the actual users
This was known as Cardholder Name in database view.
This is really important for data integrity.
We do need this especially because we have noticed that several people are using the same card but then useing a different name as the donor - this would help us track it back to the card owner and help with clean ups
Yes, we need name to show up in BBMS reports to aid with reconciliation each month, it has always been a verification point. In addition to the reasons stated below, the cardholder name sometimes gives us clues to duplicate records when there is a maiden name/married name mismatch in our system, input variations for compound surnames, or when the donor uses their card but only puts their spouse's name on the donation form--especially useful when spouses do not share the same last name or we weren't previously aware of the relationship link. We also use the cardholder name as an alias so it is easier to identify potential duplicate records.
I agree with Jennifer's comment - the name on the credit card does not always match the name entered on the form.
We add the gift to the person whose name is on the card. We get plenty of donations where it might one person's name in the "contact info" but a different name for the person who the credit card belongs to. We need to know the "name on card" field to make sure we are crediting the correct donor for the gift.
