Have the ability to generate and create EFT transmission files in webview

In database view we generate and create EFT transmission files in Batch for direct debit payments. We send these files directly to our bank for processing the payments from our donors’ bank accounts. We need to be able to do the same process in webview.

Anthony, thank you for the update and for continuing to keep us informed on this. I know there's a lot in motion, and I appreciate the work your team is putting into bringing these processes over.

I wanted to share a concern about the updated timeline. When we talked in June, EFT for manual batch processing was planned for before BBCON, so I was hopeful we'd have plenty of runway. With EFT creation now in Q2 2027 and the September 15, 2027 sunset still in place, we may only have a couple of months between delivery and losing our current process.

My main worry is what happens if the new workflow requires changes on the donor side. We have approximately 300 donors making monthly credit card and direct debit pledge payments to a capital campaign that runs through 2029. If any of them need to re-authorize payments, provide their account or card information again, or move to a different payment setup, we'd need time to plan communications, reach each donor, follow up with those who don't respond, and make sure no payments are missed. That's hard to do well in just a few months, and we want to protect our donors' experience and trust through the transition.

I'd also appreciate any update on credit cards when you have one. In June you mentioned the payments team was exploring alternatives to EFT via credit card, and knowing what that will look like, even at a high level, would help us start planning early.

If there's any flexibility for organizations in situations like ours, such as extended database view access until these pieces have been available long enough to transition carefully, it would make a real difference. Thank you again for your responsiveness on this idea. It's been very helpful.

Along the same lines, it would be wonderful to have Blackbaud University courses on the new recurring batch, AGT, and EFT workflows once they're available. Since the process will look and feel different from what we've done in database view for years, structured training would help us, and other organizations, learn it confidently and get the new process documented well ahead of the sunset.

We will be handling recurring batches along with automatically generating transactions and the auto apply to pledges and recurring gifts during Q1 of 2027. Import should be available by the end of 2026 giving us multiple tools to handle these processes. The EFT creation portion of the process will follow and I would look for that piece in Q2. We are going to also add migration processes to get recurring gifts and pledges into the web view automation workflows in Q1. A lot going on and we want to deliver all this as quickly as possible to give you time to adjust.

@anthony gallo. Could I check, we currently use Batch then Automatically Generate Transactions not for direct debits but for recurring gifts for those who donate monthly/ quarterly / yearly via PayPal, Go Cadless and Stripe regular donations that people have set up from our donation page (not an optimised donation form, one that doesn't link to RE). We are about to move to optimised donation forms which should hopefully resolve this for future donors but for our past donors that were set up on this old system so even when we move to optimised donations forms, it won't resolve this issue. These donors were able to set up a recurring gift by selecting either GBP, USD or EUR as the currency and then donating via either PayPal, Go Cardless or Stripe. What we then do each month is when these third parties pay the money into our account, we go to Batch, Automatically Generate Transactions, and Recurring Gifts is selected. We then have a Query set up that pulls say for example all PayPal donors with an active recurring gift. This then pulls up those recurring gifts and we compare with what PayPal paid into our account. We manually update the correct EUR and USD as the exchange rate varis. Once happy the figures match, we then batch. From exploring it doesn't look like this is going to be possible in web view - is that correct? If so what would you recommend?

Looking forward to being able to generate and create the EFT files for our Direct Debits in webview!

The only method you are missing is the one off create a single gift workflow which we will support throughout. The only item we are not planning will affect your workflow and that is the batch EFT processing of credit card transactions. We are working with our payments teams to figure out alternatives here.

Anthony, thanks for your quick response. I (and I'm assuming others) might be confused about the differences between EFT via Credit Card and EFT for manual batch processing. Can you detail the process for each so that we can make sure we are planning for any process changes that we need to do? Thank you.

We go into batch, automatically generate transactions, and create EFT transmission files. We do one batch for credit cards and another for direct debit. I'm actually not familiar with any other way to process credit cards or direct debit in database view.

Correct, this is planned and we just started development on it. The one piece we have no plans to bring forward is EFT via Credit Card. We plan to support all payment methods including CC and DD for manual one off gift in the back office for single and batch entry, all external payments methods for recurring gifts payments or pledge installments via API and import. We will support EFT for manual batch processing in web view. This work is planned to be finished before BBCON.

We're the Diocese of Toledo, and we're in the redemption phase of a capital campaign, processing roughly $400,000/month in credit card and direct debit payments via Batch/AGT in database view. We can't simply convert these pledges to recurring gifts as a workaround — doing so would distort the pledge/payment reporting our stakeholders and senior leadership rely on, and we need this process to continue through 2029.

I opened a support ticket asking directly whether this was on the roadmap, and Blackbaud support's response was that this functionality is not currently available in NXT, and there are no active development plans to support running EFT or auto-generating transactions/payments in batch the way it works in database view. This was also confirmed by Anthony Gallo on the June 9 "Inside Track to the Unified View" webinar.

For organizations like ours that rely on this for active campaign processing, "no current plans" is a significant gap, not just an inconvenience. Adding our vote and urging Blackbaud to prioritize this — and asking for more transparency on timeline, since several of us are trying to plan around a sunset we don't have a clear date for.

Before creating files we need to be able to add/edit bank relationships in web view, which is still "Undecided" on Blackbaud's Feature Grid. Please see and vote for https://renxt.ideas.aha.io/ideas/RENXT-I-9080

Janet, we do exactly the same. Any information from anyone, what is Blackbaud's fix/suggestion for this?
