Vital Updates for Canadian CRA Compliant Tax Receipts

The recent updates to Canadian Receipts are a good start, and users have already expressed issues with layout and design that make them quite unprofessional looking.

The current key issue is using the Display Setting for the donor name. This is not CRA Compliant and will lead to charities being penalized if audited. This has been an issue documented in the Ideas Bank since 2023. (See link below.)

This is a challenge for schools who include grad year in the display name, and for donors who have a preferred name that is not their legal name. This is very common for donors such as Chinese-Canadian families who informally use a common North American name but their legal (receipt) name should remain their actual name. We need to be able to have the display name be a person's preferred name, but the receipt should always be their First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name as per CRA requirements. This is very clearly documented on CRA resources.
