Adding the option to break individual/employment relationship links in a main constituent record

In database view, there is the option to go into a main constituent's record, click on one of their relationships (e.g., individual, employment/organization) select the relationships tab and break the link if either record is connected to another main record in Raiser's Edge. In breaking the link, the biographical information in the relationship record still remains. That option should also be added to NXT web view, as there currently isn't a way to separate individual/employment records. Which would me having to manually create another relationship record prior to deleting the other record that's linked to main record.

    Add an "Unlink Relationship" option in Web View that mirrors the functionality available in Database View.

    In Database View, users could unlink a relationship that is also a constituent, allowing the relationship to remain on the record while removing the connection to the constituent's full record. This was an efficient way to demote a constituent relationship to a simple relationship without losing any relationship data.

    In Web View, users can only delete the relationship. If a relationship that is also a constituent needs to be converted to a non-constituent relationship, staff must:

    1. Delete the existing relationship

    2. Recreate the relationship manually

    3. Re-enter all the details of the relationship

    This process is time-consuming, creates opportunities for data entry errors, and negatively impact data integrity.

    By adding the "Unlink Relationship" option in Web View that mirrors the functionality available in Database View it would

    • Simplify the relationship management when constituents status change

    • provide feature parity with Database View

    • Improve data integrity by reduce manual data re-entry

    • Save staff time and increase efficiency


    This would streamline relationship maintenance and eliminate unnecessary workarounds currently required in Web View.
