Tribute management: non-constituent tributes and fixing user errors

Currently, there is no way to bypass the record matching or creation screen when a donor makes a gift using the online form and lists a "tribute" that is not a person or organization. There is no way to bypass record creation to fix the error and the only workaround is to create a new record for the "tribute" so that the gift can be processed and then delete the tribute record.

I'll give a specific example that prompted this idea: a donor made a gift in support of one of our department's annual events, a party to celebrate the composer Beethoven's birthday. Instead of adding a comment, the donor used the tribute feature to make the gift "in honor of Beethoven's Birthday". We do not record tribute gifts unless they are made towards a person or organization. There was no way to resolve this to get the gift out of the queue without creating a record for the "tribute" that we did not want to make and no way in web view to remove the tribute from the gift. The only solution to fixing this user error was to push it through web view with incorrect information and then fix the gift record and delete the "tribute" account in database view.

So glad this is open. We are thinking about turning tributes off as it creates more work of trying to figure out the connection of the people etc.

PLEASE with this request- we get so many "in memory of my mom" or "in honor of the feast day of ..." We need to leave that option to use tribute on, but also need to be able to move the "tribute" over to the comments for some of these- can that be an option???
