Add Gift type to NXT events so a default value can be assigned

Batches in NXT that are created from event forms default to the “one-time donation” gift type. But since these registration fees aren’t actually donations, many non-profits use a different gift type to help differentiate. Since we have to assign an appeal, fund, and package for each event, why can’t we also assign the gift type to be associated with the registration fees (or better yet, create an entire default set for the event like database view). For reconciliation purposes, we have to create the gift - it would be so much quicker to do this through batch instead of manually creating each corresponding gift (and since we can't delete the batches themselves, we need to commit the batches and then delete the gifts with the incorrect Gift Types). While creating a default Gift Type for the event would be great, providing the ability to edit the gift type field on the batch would be almost as good!

Our office has been using event registration through NXT since March 2024, and it has significantly improved efficiency for the back office. To work around the “One-time gift” issue, we’ve been creating a non-donation campaign.

In 2026, we plan to launch the donor portal. However, during testing, we discovered that event registration fees are being processed as gifts, which results in inaccurate reporting. Unfortunately, these transactions cannot be filtered out by the non-donation campaign.
