The comments field of a gift record needs to be editable in NXT
Perhaps this is already in the works, but it would be helpful to add and edit comments that are part of a gift record. Currently, we have to open database view to do this, which is annoying.
Hello, I am adding to this blog. We have used the Gift Reference field (Database View/Gift Record and is a 1:many field) in RE for over 15 years. It help us differentiate between different year's events, specific gifts, etc. and it is a field we use in many queries to pull specific gifts. We also use the Appeal (1:1) and Campaign (1:1) fields, but Gift Reference allows us to enter additional information that cannot be captured in the 1:1 fields. We also use the Gift Reference field to document the nongift ticket portions of an event sponsorship. These are the only nongifts that are entered into RE. In Webview, the Gift Reference field is called "Comment" and it is a grayed out, unmanipulatable field. You cannot edit, add or delete or use this field to query; however, the "Reference" field under "Gift" is still queriable in Webview. It would be helpful and efficient to rename this field in Webview and make it a manipulatable field. Thank you.
Wonderful Tony! This is great news! I had a returned check this morning and was trying to adjust it to "$0" in Web view but couldn't figure it out. We love to use the adjustment feature in database view because it makes everything that occurred traceable in case there is a question down the road.
Yes, correct. Sorry, I have batch on the brain. Moving this back to planned and it is going to be something we are focused on in Q2 along with all the other edit options that are missing. Edits/Adjustments planned for Q2.
I believe this is referring to the gift record itself, not the batch. The comment shows at the top of the page when you have a gift record open, but you can't edit it in Web View.
This is a must! We will not be able to fully use NXT web view until it has this ability. It is such a waste of time to have to go back and forth to database view to edit comments! The same functions should be available in web view so the new users do not have to learn both database and web view because some key features are not available.
We won't be able to full adopt web view until the functionality of database view is moved into web view. It is frustrating to try to train others and be constantly "encouraged" by Blackbaud to adopt web view processes when the simplest tasks aren't possible to perform in web view.
To add onto this, I want to be able to edit things like the gift date/GL date, the payment information, etc. If I can change it in DBV, I want to be able to change it in NXT.
Sometimes I make mistakes during gift entry. Just this morning I had to go back into a gift because I didn't add the check date and number. I need to be able to make those fixes.
The Gift Reference field in database view is used widely by admins, e.g., identifying which gifts were merged, tagging adjustments, indicting which sponsorship package or what level of membership was purchased, gift intent, tribute names, or a whole host of other reasons. It is informational at a glance. Comments are added to gifts at any point in time and not just when the gift itself is being entered. Quite often it is not the gift processors who are adding this information.
Agreed. While everything is changing, a document of what we can do in Database and what we can't do in NXT would be ideal, so we don't have to waste time looking for something.

Our organization re-directs gifts and editing the comments/reference is vital. Currently this is only available in Database.

The comment field is available in grid view batch for add/edit. This is connected to the reference field in database view.
we need this functionality! Can't move away from dbview until it's there
10000% agree. It's super frustrating to have to open DBV every time we need to edit a gift comment, which we do frequently.

We need to have the ability to add and edit Gift Comments (aka Gift Reference from database view) in NXT!
Need this function!
PLEASE!!!!

Definitely a must have! Another example of missing functionality in web view that continues to drive me to database view.
YES! Why are so many useful things not available in web view? It's really frustrating.
Need this function, please.
