This would be helpful to my team members, as it would save a great deal of time for them. As the Gift Processing Specialist here at Fanshawe College I assign actions to team members when pledge payments are due, gift agreements are expiring, etc. As of now, I assign the actions, and ask my team members to edit the action to integrate it into their Outlook calendar. (duplicating the work)
I want to assign tasks across the team with a date / time, however when I do this they cannot see either. It's pretty useless as it stands and needs attention.
There are a few ways to accomplish this today.
1. You could send a link to the Action in web view to your team members. From there they can add the action directly to their own calendar.
2. You could download the appointment as an ICS file which can then be emailed to your team members for them to add to their calendar
3. You can download the Action as an appointment on your own calendar and convert it to a meeting request by inviting your team member
It is not possible to create the appointment directly on someone else's Outlook 365 calendar because they have to authenticate themselves in order to gain access to it.
This is currently a lost function from the database view which could send calendar invitations to other users, not just the user adding the action, to add the appointment to their calendars. It is not at all uncommon for staff to do the data entry for executives and senior fundraisers and need the actions they're adding to show up on others' calendars as appointments.
This needs attention. Please fix. It is absurd to make users with outlook 365 do duplicate work as a "work around".
