Direct Debit Gift Date and Transaction Date not Matching
The gift date and transaction date don’t align for direct debits. We understand disbursement dates also don’t align, but we can run a report that shows both the gift dates and disbursement dates. The issue is that direct debit gift dates on a donor’s account pull on the following date’s transaction dates. This makes our numbers off and will cause an issue with our accounting. I was told there is not a report that shows both the gift date and transaction date, which we need.

This problem has caused our accounting department to not consider FE for our new finance system. This issue reflects poorly on Blackbaud's capability to provide an accounting solution. It may seem like a small detail, but it is actually a fundamental principle in accounting practices to be able to reconcile using the gift date (which in this case does not match between BBMS and BBRENXT). We met with some consultants who partner with BB and they said they have to manually reconcile (transaction line by transaction line) because of this. That is not a solution. We (IT) have created a utility that changes the gift date to match the transaction date in all situations. It required custom fields, API calls, etc. It's a shame we had to do this.
