This has to be changed. Donors often need to change their payment method, beyond updating credit card or bank details. They may want to switch from Bill Me to a credit card, from a credit card to ACH, or back to Bill Me.

Currently, changing the payment method on a pledge requires writing it off, which artificially increases write-offs. Changing it on a recurring gift requires terminating and re-adding the gift, which unnecessarily adds entries to the donor’s record and can create gaps in consecutive payments.

We have many donors that call wanting to switch from credit/debit card payment on their recurring gift to ACH or check as their card information was stolen. Others open their recurring gift with a credit/debit card only to change their mind a month later and want to send checks instead. Opening and closing recurring gifts after they were opened only one month ago is not ideal for reporting purposes, for such having this functionality would be best for donor tracking, continuity and financial reporting.

Our users made the same request. The ability to change from credit card to ACH or debit is needed.

This is recently become an increasing request from donors with scamming becoming so sophisticated

Excellent idea - the last thing we want is to lose valuable constituent data.
