Allow Change Payment Method to Automated Recurring Gifts

We want to be able to change the payment method for our credit card recurring gifts that were automated. Blackbaud support confirmed that in order to do so, we need to complete/terminate the existing Recurring Gift and create a new one.


This is not ideal as we then lose the information on how long a constituent has been a consistent recurring giver.

    We have many donors that call wanting to switch from credit/debit card payment on their recurring gift to ACH or check as their card information was stolen. Others open their recurring gift with a credit/debit card only to change their mind a month later and want to send checks instead. Opening and closing recurring gifts after they were opened only one month ago is not ideal for reporting purposes, for such having this functionality would be best for donor tracking, continuity and financial reporting.

    Our users made the same request. The ability to change from credit card to ACH or debit is needed.

    This is recently become an increasing request from donors with scamming becoming so sophisticated

    Excellent idea - the last thing we want is to lose valuable constituent data.
