Any gift entered in NXT cannot be deleted, either in NXT or the database view. This is ridiculous. One can edit a gift, but for some reason, deleting outright - even if you have supervisor rights - is not possible? Once in a while mistakes happen, and having the workaround of just zeroing out a gift is frankly not acceptable to our organization.
Here is the KB article that mentions this. Apparently this is intentional, which boggles my mind.

My gosh, ran into this today. Was totally unaware you can't delete. Back to RE7 we go.

Absolutely ridiculous. Stops us using NXT for gifts. Change this setting Blackbaud.

wow just noticed it! That's BS Blackbaud fix this. While you're at it fix your glitchy consolidated e-receipting process in RE.

Agree. It does not make sense that we can not delete the gift in NXT. We are reenforcing the staffs to use Database view when adding the gift, but that should not the standard practice as most of the fundraising team member use NXT on daily basis.

In my case it is a ton of test gifts when attempting to create an automated gift system through the SKY API. Now there is a bunch of trash I can't clean up.

I completely agree. If a gift can be deleted completely in database view, why can it not be deleted in NXT? This makes zero sense. We should be able to delete gifts in NXT completely. Having a bunch of $0.00 gifts on a record doesn't make sense.

Yes, we absolutely need to be able to delete gifts, especially if they have been allocated to a wrong constituent. Having $0 records is completely pointless and messy

just found out about this via support. just came here to say "what in the sam hill decision was this?!" I do not need a bunch of $0 gifts from people whose monthly donation credit card was declined. I need to reject the gift or be able to delete it.

This is a huge issue and should be correctly immediately.

I agree. Please add an option to delete these gifts.

I found I was able to isolate the NXT gifts in a query, then use the global delete in DB view to delete them.

Please add an option to delete gifts. I hate having $0 gifts because someone made a mistake. It's not efficient nor accurate to have them on the records. Thank you.

I must agree. The option to delete a payment should be added immediately.

I agree. Sometimes online gifts that are entered in NXT are later identified as program income (which obviously, should not be entered in RE). It's frustrating and inefficient to have to $0 out these gifts instead of being able to delete them. Please fix asap.

This is absolutely ridiculous that this bug hasn't been fixed. When I contacted support today they told me "it's working as designed". Well, the design is bad and it needs to be changed; this isn't a feature it's a BUG. Why has this problem been active since at least 2021 without a solution?

STRONGLY AGREE as well. It is very strange that this is the case and more so that it is by design. We need to be able to delete gifts regardless of whether they were added through database view or NXT. It could be limited to users with certain permissions, i.e. supervisors, if that's a worry - I don't know why it has been designed this way intentionally - but to not have the functionality is crazy.

STRONGLY AGREE. This is holding us back from fully embracing NXT. It doesn't allow us control over our own data and makes records incorrect with information that not everyone on the team will follow based on their knowledge level of NXT or the database view.

Agree. This just makes such an annoying mess in the constituent's gift record. Once the money is refunded, why does it matter if there is a record of the gift or not?

Agree, please fix this ASAP

Yep. Totally ridicolous. You can delete with an absurd workaround. Many thanks to Mike Teague

I found a workaround to this issue today. You can create a static gift list in NXT of the gifts you want to delete. You can then go into database view and Globally Delete records and then just choose the gifts from that list. I was able to delete around 20 gifts that were entered incorrectly today.
