NXT times out too quickly Merged

Could this be something that could be set by the user?  For example, time me out after one hour of inactivity?  Or after 15 minutes - according to user preference?  I find that I go back and forth between many programs and having to log back in to NXT each time is a bit annoying.  I do like it as a security feature and understand why it is important to protect our data, but wish it could be set at a user level.

What frustrates me is that is times out without first saving what I'm working on.  How rude.  It can time out all it wants, as far as I'm concerned, but WITHOUT SAVING??  REALLY??  And no, it doesn't wait 15 minutes.  I took a 2 minute phone call, and it dumped me and the lengthy action report I was writing. Seems to happen when I'm on a local wi-fi more than when my laptop is hooked up in the office.

from my Principal Gift officer: NXT locks/times out/dumps me AND MY ACTION REPORT that I'm working on, in like two minutes. Without saving. What setting can I change, and how can I do this? Thanks. Paul Hanson

Let me add my voice to this.  My boss is furious about the short timeout amount.  Because she keeps all her letter formats in our shared drive, and writing letters through RE NXT/db view opens the letters in the host Microsoft Word, she is constantly going back and forth between our Word and their Word.  That's bad enough for her, but now when she gets timed out before the letter is even complete?  Please give us options!

Yeah, I can live with the webview timeout, but the RE7/db timeout feels unusually short. We had a timeout setting on our self-hosted database, but it was slightly longer than the lock screen/activity timer our org set. It was still annoying when you'd get those complicated phone calls or unplanned desk meetings, but it felt like it was all part of the same process, and manageable. It'd be nice if we could set the timeout in the hosted db at an organizational level.

This is a very frustrating feature! I understand for security reasons if you are using NXT outside of the office, however 99% of the time we are in the office when using the database and need to keep it open in the background should we get any calls and need to check donor / gift information at short notice. With the current logout timings this is impossible as every time someone rings NXT has utlimately timed out already and then we have to shortcut through to Chrome, then open the backend database. All this information was at our finger tips previously and NXT is a big step backwards on this front so far. Please could you provide a fix :-)

Here, here!  Our workstations are set to lock after 15 minutes, and we are instructed (and recently reminded in an Internet Security online class) to lock workstations when stepping away from our desks.  So there's not really any reason for another program to timeout on top of that.  A setting, whether it be a User Setting or an Org Setting, would be great for those that do need an additional level of security.

I did change my BB.com (and therefore NXT) email to a gmail address, which means I can log in to gmail in the browser, and it's now a one-click sign in to BB products, no need to retype a password.  That helps.  And at least it restores what/where  you were, unlike Hosted RE:7 that just shuts you out completely after an hour (so pretty much any meeting).
