Customize what is included in Lifetime Giving

sometimes, there are fees (event participation fess) included in lifetime giving.  this is really not 'giving' per se

Same issue as many others about non-gift income being applied to the lifetime giving total. For us, we really need to be able to filter by Fund Category. We have too many funds to filter by fund alone.

In our case, event fees are not an issue. What we struggle with is when/how soft credits and matching gifts are reflected in lifetime giving. At our institution, we use the term "lifetime giving" to mean " recognition giving". We need to be able to reflect hard credits, soft credits, matching gifts AND soft credit matching gifts. Where we run into the biggest problem is when one spouse receives matching gift credit and the other spouse gets a soft credit of that gift--the match only reflects on one person.

We have the same issue with non-gift revenue transactions such as event transactions, charitable gift annuity liability portion to name a few. Being able to filter out what you want by campaign or fund fields would be extremely helpful.

Filter by campaign would be helpful to us. We use a certain campaign for event participation fees.

@Heather McLean, where is this setting?

Since event fees and other payments with an associated benefit (i.e., not "charitable gifts" as defined by the IRS) are not considered a different gift type in RE, a filter for campaign and/or fund would help since that is the workaround we have to use to separate these from other giving

Thank you for reaching out. Addressing this issue would have a huge benefit to Advancement Services, Advancement Staff, and our Campus partners.

We have funds that should not be included in lifetime giving. These funds have been given a specific fund category designation. For us, filtering lifetime giving by fund category would address the issue. However, being able to filter specific funds may be useful to other organizations.

Filters by fund/appeal would also be helpful in addition to gift type.

Thank you for your feedback. Can you please add more specific comments on what filters you need here? This is available today.

Yes!! This is a big problem for us! We have this problem with event registration, travel program payments, merchandise purchases, and we also have a bridge fund used for employee travel reimbursement. We desperately need to be able to exclude certain transactions from lifetime giving/giving history!

Inability to customize lifetime giving is frustrating. Users have to be told that the lifetime giving value prominently displayed on each donor record needs to be verified. This reduces users' trust in RE data right from the start and makes it inconvenient for users to access data. For my team, it is extra work to provide this to our users ad hoc and/or import the actual lifetime giving value as a constituent custom field.

We need to be able to include or exclude matching gift as well as soft credit into our Lifetime Giving totals, just like in Database view.

Agreed! We have non-gift revenue tallying up in LT giving.

I agree about making recognition gifts hidden in lifetime totals. My totals are comically skewed due to soft credits.

We process many "non-contribution" gifts and we don't count them in lifetime giving totals. So we have to get this total from database view.

We were told in training that the event gifts are not included in this Lifetime Giving.

We would be happy to see this modified, too, as we would rather not have membership dues included in this total (or at least have them broken out and labeled as such).

This one is rather critical for us as well - we own and operate a car park, and this revenue is transacted through Raiser's Edge as a gift. Very easy to filter in Database View, but not in RE NXT. It often creates a false impression of the constituent.

At my last org, we tracked employee giving to United Way and our local Fine Arts Fund (operates similarly to UW) as Gift Records.  In RE:7, this was fine, because we could include or exclude based on Cpgn or Fund (ID or Type).  But in NXT, these gifts are automatically included in giving summaries and that can't be changed.
