In Database view the letter code field can be used even if the Acknowledgement status is "Do Not Acknowledge". In Web view the letter code field disappears if the acknowledgement status is "Do Not Acknowledge". We issue either a receipt or an acknowledgement (not both) for gifts and can use the letter code for merges for both. Web view receipting and acknowledgement processes seem to be set up for sending both receipts and acknowledgements which doesn't make sense for us at this point.
