To integrate RE with Constant Contact, a Constituent query is created to generate the Constituent list that is used daily to send constituent and email address data to Constant Contact. However, because the RE query is static, the RE query is not refreshed and saved daily, and therefore the RE list is not updated with changed or new constituent data, which means the Constant Contact imported data is not synched with RE data. This is a poor design in the RE integration to CC feature. Please set the RE queries used for CC integration to automatically refresh and saved at end of day, every day. Thanks.
UPDATE Sep-8, 2026: BB has just enhanced RE lists to use dynamic queries. So the suggestion to automatically refresh the static query used in the RE integration to CC is no longer needed. If you had a constituent list using a static query, just change the existing query's type to dynamic and the constituent list will update automatically and the associated integration will function all by itself - manual refresh is not needed!
Thanks for the tip, I wanted to share the way we do it for anyone interested - Our CC list is fed by a static query still, one that is refreshed in the early morning each day (using power automate, though Queue works as well). The reason for this is that I then have all day with the list unchanged to get around to importing anything related to this. Some charities import their e-news as appeals (we do) but even if you're just importing an action showing the email went out, the static query means that the list stays as is, how you want it, without any new donors/emails popping into it mid-day, until you get around to your import.
Please please please update from Lists to Query for the CC integration! Lists are less precise than query and reduce our ability to optimize use of the tool.
We have been frustrated by this Constant Contact connection. I was disappointed to find that RE Lists was the mode they would use to upload contacts. Lists in general are not great and have very little filters that are relevant to pulls like this. I hope this means you all will repair this and utilize direct query uploads to the system.
@Yoke Wong, @Teddi Taylor, @Sue Christensen, @Amanda Mogridge - Use a dynamic Constituent List in RE instead of a constituent query. Your dynamic constituent lists refreshes automatically in RE and syncs with CC every 24 hrs.
I guess it is good to know about this limitation now before we make decisions about switching email marketing platforms, but it is disappointing to discover this built-in integration is subpar. We're not currently using Constant Contact, but the integration we currently have with Mailchimp using an Omatic connector is dynamic, robust, and pretty hands off.
This absolutely needs to happen or constant contact will not be updated with new information - it is silly that we would have to manually refresh our static query every day so that the new information flows to CC.
The RE integration to Constant Contact is a great feature except for the fact that the RE query and list do not get automatically updated. Hope that the BB will make this change as soon as possible so that more organizations can take advantage of this feature.
I 100% agree that it is a poor design and is one of the main reasons we wouldn't sign the contract. You should be able to pull from a dynamic query into Constant Contact like you can in Online Express.
