Allow web view event calendar invites to automatically adjust based on registrant's time zone

When we create an event, we can't enter a time zone. This is causing registrants in different time zones to get calendar invitations that are 1-3 hours late - so if we have an event at 7pm EST, and someone on the west coast registers, they get a calendar invite for 7pm PST, which is a huge problem. In an increasingly virtual world, calendar invites should automatically adjust based on the recipient's time zone. We're only going to confuse donors if we send them an invite for one time and then email them with another time, not to mention the extra time it takes for us to do that.

We've shipped two new features to accomodate this. The first feature, which shipped a few weeks ago, let's you turn off the calendar feature altogether. The last part of the feature, which shipped today, lets you view the time of the event - with timezone - from the Confirmations tab of the Edit registration form screen. You can edit the timezone if its incorrect, and this information is passed on to the appropriate calendar applications when registrants choose to download to their calendar.

Today, there is no concept of timezone on a RE or RENXT event. We hope to change that in the future, but in the meantime, this should allow you to ensure that calendar entries are correct on your registrant's calendars.

You can find out more detail in today's What's New in RENXT.

    Thanks,

Agreed! This is such a basic function of an "add to calendar" feature. Why even have the feature if it only works properly in one time zone?

We can't be the only orgnization attempting to use this function. And the Bb suggetion is to send a long email explaining to donors that the date is correct, but the time is not. It renders their add to calendar function useless!
