End dates entered on recurring gifts should automatically trigger a change in status.
What's the purpose of an end date if it doesn't impact the record? Is it just a suggestion the the recurring gift will be ending? When these gifts are automatically processed, the end date should automatically change the status to completed.0

RE:NXT should not change the gift receipt amount field!
