Optimized Forms don't work with a pop-up blocker on

We recently attempted to transition to the new optimized donation forms but have run into a major roadblock regarding mobile donor conversions. The optimized forms rely on a pop up window mechanism to complete the transaction.

In the current digital landscape, over 70% of donation traffic occurs on mobile devices. Both Apple Safari and Google Chrome have strict pop up blockers enabled by default. On iOS Safari, pop ups are blocked globally. This means our donors are met with a broken user experience unless they navigate into their iPhone app settings to disable security features.

Relying on pop ups for checkout flows goes against modern mobile first design principles and completely take the optimized donation form out of the equation.

Please update the optimized donation forms to utilize an on page redirect, an overlay modal that stays within the same browser tab, or an embedded inline frame rather than a true browser pop up window. This will ensure seamless giving across all mobile devices without triggering native browser security blockers.

    Hi!

Optimized Form does not utilize pop-ups today - when embedded on your website, it displays within an iframe and presents as an overlay modal within the same browser tab.We have not seen any issues with iOS Safari to date with the Optimized Form loading or getting caught in a pop-up blocker. Can you send a link to your form (live or test) to me at samantha.mcguin@blackbaud.com - we can take a closer look and see if something else is going on that may be causing this for you.

    Thanks!
